The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company are bringing Charles Fuller's extraordinary Pulitzer Prize-winning drama to life at the Otto M Budig Theater next February. Focusing on a brutal murder on a segregated Army base during the Second World War, A Soldier's Play is a searing exploration of the insidious nature of racism and prejudice.
It's 1944, and on an Army Base in Louisiana, a black sergeant has just been brutally murdered. When Captain Davenport arrives to investigate the killing, suspicion initially falls on the local Ku Klux Klan members. But the investigation slowly reveals a sergeant whose reputation within his unit was far from untarnished. As he delves further and further into the case and the men of the unit, Davenport will discover just how deeply bigotry can burrow into one's soul.
