See You On The Other Side - RIP Alexander Hamilton!

News Desk, July 11th, 2019

The 215th anniversary of the death of A. Ham.

Today marks the 215th anniversary of the death of the first Secretary of the Treasury, and inspiration behind the biggest musical on the planet, Alexander Hamilton!

A once long forgotten founding father who is now enjoying a resurgence of popularity (courtesy of the Miranda hit) Alexander Hamilton not only helped form the USA but also founded many of the institutions that has made the country it is today. We take a look at three of Hamilton's biggest contributions to the formation and establishment of the United States of America.

1. Founded The Coast Guard

The U.S Coast Guard is the oldest continuous seagoing service and was created by Alexander Hamilton to ensure the safe conduct of trade between the newly formed USA and the rest of the world.

2. Founded The New York Post

Now a popular tabloid A. Ham's New York Post was a well-respected broadsheet back in the 19th century. Its contents consisted of the biggest news stories of the day, theater and literary reviews, and political editorials.

3. Founded The National Bank

That's right Alexander Hamilton pretty much invented Wall Street and turned the new nation into one of the most powerful global economies. The system that Hamilton created paved the way for modern banking, and he was the one who decided to get rid of the more commonly used global currencies for the new American dollar!

These three institutions are just a small glimpse at Hamilton's contributions, book tickets to Hamilton on tour to find out more!

Hamilton is now on tour!
