The Playhouse presents Charles Dickens' holiday tale!
A Christmas Carol, annually staged by the Playhouse In The Park, is a true Cincinnati holiday tradition that reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas and the wider holiday season. Follow the belated coming-of-age of elderly miser Ebenezer Scrooge as his cruel actions towards his employee and his estranged family conjure up three spirits to show him the error of his ways, before it's too late.
What is the story about?
Scrooge, a miserly moneylender hates Christmas. So much so that he refuses to let his impoverished apprentice Bob Cratchitt to leave early on Christmas Eve. Having consigned himself to a lonely life long ago, his heart has grown cold and twisted, with only money bringing him what little joy he can find. When settling into bed that night, the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley appears in chains, warning him of three approaching apparitions, and to change his ways.
The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future appear to him one after the other, reminding him of more happy times, what his family are doing, as well as what awaits him should he fail to become a better man. Will Scrooge heed the warnings and put away the ill-tempered old man he has grown to become?
