With special guests from Israel!
A mixed rep double-bill performance, Cincinnati is going all modern! Celebrating contemporary dance in all its diverse and thrilling glory, this is a way to experience ballet as you have never done so before! No Romantic or classical dance in this program; this is all about the new. Visiting choreographer Ohad Naharin from Israel's Batsheva Dance Company presents his work Minus 16, which takes us through a host of different dance styles; mambo, tap, techno and even some Dean Martin provide the eclectic soundtrack as the corps members utilize his "Gaga" technique to free themselves and improvise!
The second work is a new world premiere by Cincinnati Ballet's own Adam Hougland. Danced to Beethoven's String Quartet "Op. 18, No. 1 in F Major, this is performed live on stage with the dancers by award-winning ensemble Ariel Quartet! Exploring the elegance and atheleticism of modern ballet styles, Hougland brings his signature striking imagery and dramatic power to the choreography.
